Malik Jeannet (b. 1997) is an interdisciplinary artist who mainly work with the medium of painting and space interaction. Basing his work on a process of research and experimentation, his practice, echoing the Monoha movement, focuses as much on the interdependence between the work and the surrounding space as on the materials themselves used.
Seeking to restore a symbiotic relation between human and non-human activities, his work tends to bring a symmetrical but still unsettled cohesion through the immaculate and the distorted, or the self and its alterity, to bring back these two elements into the same common space.
Conceptualizing painting as an intellectual tool for research and understanding, Malik Jeannet also tends to extend his work in a sculptural and architectural direction, as a place of physical refuge and open dialogue.
After a significant residency in Genova, Italy beginning of 2021 where he strongly asserts his ongoing abstract body of work, he has been award with another eight months residency at ‘Atelier Le Corbusier - Cité international des arts’ Paris, France, starting from July 2022.
Born in Switzerland, Malik Jeannet lives and works between La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) and Paris (France). Following a sportive career start (2008-2017) and his graduation from the CIFOM-ET technical school of Le Locle in Switzerland (2016), Jeannet forms himself through observation and documentation in the fields of literature and psychology, history of art and architecture, myths and spirituality.
